MAC H2OPE CLINIC

The clinic is a partnership between the McMaster University, School of Rehabilitation Sciences, the YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford and Hamilton Health Sciences, through the LiveWell initiative.

The MAC H2OPE clinic provides free occupational therapy and physiotherapy services to eligible adults in downtown Hamilton. The clinic merges opportunities for rehabilitation service delivery, student learning, and research to improve the health of people in downtown Hamilton.

Rehabilitative services are provided through a consultative model by either registered therapists or student therapists.

Services

What Services are Offered?

Occupational Therapy Services: Occupational Therapists assist individuals to complete their activities of daily living when such tasks become challenging due to illnesses/injuries/disorders. These include tasks to take care of yourself, to have fun and to be productive.

Physiotherapy Services: Physiotherapists play a role in health promotion, treatment and management of acute and chronic conditions. Physiotherapists work with people of all ages to improve and maintain mobility, physical performance and overall health and wellness through the use of exercise, education and other techniques.

Workshops: In addition, a number of health and wellness groups are offered by the clinic. Past topics include Stress and Anxiety Management, Falls Prevention, and Emotion Regulation for Building Social Relationships.

Referral Process

Referral Process

For Clients

A referral from a health care provider is not required. Clients can call or email using the contact information provided to speak to a PT or OT. The PT or OT will go through a quick eligibility screening questionnaire with you before booking an appointment.

Please note that our email is not monitored daily, therefore a call to the clinic will result in a quicker response. If you are in need of urgent medical care please call 911.

Who is Eligible

Who is eligible for Occupational Therapy and/or Physiotherapy?

 

If you are:

  • over 65 years of age, and/or
  • receiving financial support from Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program, you are eligible for publicly funded physiotherapy services.

If you need help accessing these services you can go here or contact the MAC H2OPE clinic. The Clinic can also provide some temporary services for clients who currently are on a wait list for publicly funded physiotherapy. Our clinicians can help you determine how to access appropriate physiotherapy services.
