Frances Ziesmann Photo (2)Frances Ziesmann, MHM Award of Excellence recipient of 2015, registered in the MHM program in 2012, after receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Toronto, and her post-degree in Occupational Health and Safety (DOHS) at McMaster University. “I selected MHM at McMaster due to their focus on current evidence-based practice, evidence informed management and policy, self-directed learning, critical thinking and problem-based learning approaches and principles,” said Frances. Once registered, Frances was eager to take part in all that the program had to offer, and was very interested in the business courses relating to healthcare. “I enjoyed the diversity of the courses, including topics that I have never taken before, such as health policy and finance.”

Now that Frances has completed the MHM program, she is able to reflect on the program and see where it will bring her. “The MHM program promotes the concepts of personal reflection and improvement, listening to others, striving to learn and unveil new evidence for sharing and to improve processes, quality of care and to benefit the people we serve in the system. The MHM program will not only provide necessary skills needed to attain my career goals, but has heightened my understanding of leadership and the skills needed. There is no question that the knowledge and skills I have acquired will prepare me for future endeavors and opportunities.”
