While completing her Honours Bachelor of Science in neuroscience and psychology at the University of Toronto, Rachelle worked as a research assistant at SickKids Hospital. It was through this position that Rachelle was exposed to the realm of clinical research, which propelled her to pursue a Master’s in Rehabilitation Science.
Rachelle began the RS Thesis-Based Master`s program in September 2014. Her research is focused on the impact of pediatric concussions on depression and cognition, under the supervision of Carol DeMatteo. “The RS program is appealing because it is interdisciplinary – I can combine my interests in the brain and health care and build my Supervisory Committee with researchers from different departments.” Rachelle has enjoyed the experience so much that she hopes to continue a career in research after finishing her Master`s.
